Sisterhood ~ by Skeet Savage

Sisterhood. True friendship. Being accepted, loved, understood. Being challenged, scolded, held accountable.

Knowing that we can speak from the heart and our words will be graciously received as cherished gifts—regardless of whether they be intimate thoughts shared in the strictest confidence or strong words of correction or admonition spoken from a heart of love.

The special bond of sibling relationships is precious indeed. Yet, Brothers and Sisters in the Kingdom of God share the deepest, most meaningful, level of relationship; one that will stand the test of time—and remain standing even when time shall be no more.

The home is the training ground for walking out that which we are taught in the Word. If we are not perfected in love towards those in our very own household, our faith is not genuine no matter how easily we are able to impress those on the outside. Don’t kid yourself. Real Christianity will first be expressed and confirmed in the context of the home.

Let us not be like the women of this world who bite and claw and devour one another without conscience. Rather, let us seize every opportunity to do good, and to express the Love of God in practical ways, and to show mercy to those in need.

Each true Sister in the Lord is a precious and eternal gift from the Father to bless us both in this life and in the next. When we truly recognize the blessing of these priceless treasures, we will not be so quick to take those relationships for granted or treat them with careless abandon.

Our God gave us specific instruction regarding the way we are to treat and respond to one another—especially those who are of the household of faith. “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” (1 John 3:18)

Have you hugged your Sis, today?
